Biography

The Reverend Sheritta Michelle Williams is originally from Buffalo, NY. She
was ordained in 2012 at ELIM Christian Fellowship in Buffalo, NY, under Bishop T.
Anthony Bronner, D.Min. Rev. Williams has served in various ministry roles for over 25
years, Rev. Williams has served as a facilitator for young women’s Bible study, youth
minister, executive pastor, and an interim senior pastor. Currently, she is a member of
Mt. Level Missionary Baptist Church in Durham, NC, under the leadership of the Rev.
Dr. William C. Turner, Jr., Ph.D. She has been serving as the Minister for Young Adults
& Performing Arts since January 2017.
As a first-generation college graduate, Rev. Williams achieved her Bachelor of
Arts in Political Science with minors in Religious Studies, African American Studies, and
Business Administration from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC. At Saint
Augustine’s, she was initiated into the Gamma Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Inc. Rev. Williams pursued a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies
focusing on Social Justice from Northeastern Seminary at Robert’s Wesleyan University
in Rochester, New York. She also attained an M.T.S. (Master of Theological Studies)
degree from Duke University Divinity School in Durham, NC, where she concentrated on
Christian Education and Black Church Studies.
Rev. Williams is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Education
from Campbell University Divinity School and is a member of the prestigious Phi Kappa
Phi National Honor Society. Her research and praxis focus on developing a mentorship
program and curriculum for young adult Black women in the Baptist context through a
Womanist theological lens. This project addresses the challenges preventing young adult
women from flourishing and impacting their spiritual growth, self-esteem, relationships,
and visibility within the local church community.
Rev. Williams has dedicated herself to serving as a student affairs administrator,
professor, and consultant at various colleges, universities, and theological institutions.
Her impactful research and work focus on Womanist theology, liberation theology, racial
and social justice, and the arts. She has graciously shared her knowledge through lectures
across the U.S., Canada, and Sri Lanka. Currently, Rev. Williams is the founder and
Principal of She Speaks Justice by Rev. Sheritta Michelle LLC, a Christian-based
consulting firm committed to advancing racial, gender, and social justice through
theological education, public speaking, curriculum development, and strategic advocacy.
Rev. Williams is a compassionate and dedicated missionary who has served in the
U.S., China, Japan, and the Caribbean. She is a community organizer and advocate who
has wholeheartedly served as a program director, church mobilization officer, and
community advocate in the Christian-based nonprofit sector. Rev. Williams is also
trained as a domestic and intimate partner violence advocate and prevention specialist,
offering vital support and advocacy for the rights and protection of survivors.
Rev. Williams loves to laugh, is a pound cake connoisseur, and has a passion for
the performing arts—with an extensive background in theatre, music, and poetry. She
supports her local arts scene in her spare time by attending a Broadway or Off-Broadway
musical, joining a poetry slam, or baking one of her delicious pound cakes!
As she moves forward in life, Rev. Williams holds onto the words of Maya
Angelou: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with
some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
